Inks & Processes
Water Based
Aside from being environmentally friendly and easy on the eyes, water based inks sink into the garment and allow it to breathe (opposed to standard plastisol inks that sit on top of the fabric, creating a rubbery film). Water based prints are so soft that most of the time you can’t feel the difference between the print and the shirt. The prints typically last as long as the garment does, with some minimal fading over time.
Dye Discharge
These inks are water based inks but with a few different properties that when activated react with pigments in cotton fibers. Plain discharge will turn the fabric back to its natural off-white color but when mixed with pigments, it can create vibrant prints that are essentially part of the fabric. Discharge printing works best on darker colored garments that are made up of mostly cotton.
